I have to leave for four months for work and I have two cats. My fiancee will be taking care of them at my house while I am gone, she does not live with me, just stopping by. My brother will not take care of the cats but he will be staying at my place most of the time, when he is not there a friend of mine who will not acknowledge the cats will be there as well. My brother will not go near the cats because they both hate him, hissing scratching, etc. My friend is allergic but is okay as long as he not too close to the cats.

My mother and daughter cats are indoor cats with almost no contact with other cats or the outside world. The daughter is about six weeks old and I’m planning to get them both vaccinated next month, since mommy cat had no previous vaccinations from her former owner. What vaccinations do you recommend? I read about some vaccinations causing diseases in cats, and experts recommending to stick to the really vital vaccinations only such as panleukopenia. Thoughts? Thanks!

I have fleas in my house and on my cats. I went to the vet and got the advantage drops for the cats. I have also sprayed my house, used a flea fogger, and have been vacuuming everything and cleaning the crap outta my house. Since both cats and the house have been treated should I continue to keep my cats quarantined in the bathroom or should I let them out. I’m thinking it’s probably ok to let them out now since the pesticide has had time to settle. Also, I think the advantage stuff on the cats is supposed to kill any fleas that jump on. I’m thinking it’s a good idea to let the cats run around so the remaining fleas that continue to hatch will jump on the cats and die. Advise?

I heard a funny story about cats on NPR today. It said reddish/orange cats are more affectionate than others. I have two cats and the orange one is WAY more affectionate and friendly than my gray girl one, (the orange one is a boy!)…. How come some cats are more affectionate than others? Are they just born like that? LIke how poeple are born w/ different personalities?

I will be a first time kitten owner in about a month and am using this time to read lots of books about owning a kitten. One of the things I have come across a lot is leash training and toilet training. I have never seen cats do either of these before, and wanted to know if any of you have personally trained your cats to do these things or have seen it in action. Does it really work? Is it good for the cat? Can you start this training as a kitten? What are the best training methods you have used? I would love to get any first hand experiences and opinions on these possible kitten training methods. Your considerate thoughts are appreciated.

Thank You.

She doesn’t do it on purpose. In fact, if I am on the floor specifically playing with her she never claws me. It’s when she’s playing with stuff on the floor that she does it. She’ll be playing with things then forget and attack my foot or she’ll attack some crevice in my recliner and get me by accident (that hurts the worst!) She likes to stick her paws in little spaces and claw viciously! Earlier today she was running around and jumping on things and she landed on my lap with all her claws out, ouch! My boyfriend says to use a spray bottle but I don’t know if that’s right.
K, cupcake, I don’t know if some people think de-clawing is okay, but it isn’t. I pretty much ruics a cat’s life. They literally chop the tips of their fingers off. (your probably kidding, but I thought I should mention it)
Just thought I should mention, she isn’t clawing the way cat’s claw a scratching post. She’s very well behaved at sticking to her clawing chair (I happened to have an old chair, okay). It’s just when she gets hyper she attacks things with her claws.
