Im not here asked: I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. The cats food is in the pantry on the bottom shelf they have to jump up to get it. The Lab can get to it sometimes and my 4 mth Pug can jump up there too. I don’t want the Pug or the Lab eating cat food. The Pugs food is in a lower cabinet so the Lab doesn’t eat his food but the cats eat it and usually the Lab manages to squeeze enough of himself in to eat the Pugs food too! No one eats the Labs food because he wolfs it down when it is given to him. How can I create individual eating enviroments for the cats, the Pug, and the Lab without everyone eating everyone elses food? AND without me having to stand guard.
My 4mth old Pug needs to have free range of his food and if you can get a cat to eat on demand then you must be god!
I’m gonna try the dryer as a new food place but I have a feeling the Lab will be able to get to it. He is huge!! I’m 5′5″ and when he can put his paws on my shoulders we are eye to eye. I have tried to put the cat food on the higher shelf but it becomes a mess, they knock down everything just trying to get up there. I’d like to make a cut out in one of the cabinets but the pug is smaller than the cats so it won’t stop him and he’s the one I worry about the most. He would prefer the cat food but he needs his High Quality food for puppy growth. AAARRRGGGHH!!!!!! Animals you can’t live with them BUT I’d never live without them!!!

Sweet Susie asked: I have two great cats. My first cat is hugely obese — 15 pounds. We are doing everything we can to help her lose weight: diet food, vet recommended serving sizes, and exercise. Nothing is working because she is literally sabotaging our efforts. She eats her food AND at least half of our other (skinny) cat’s dinner. In a sense, she is eating for 1 and a 1/2.
How do I teach/train her to only eat out of her bowl? How do help her lose weight so she can live a healthy cat-life?
Thank you so far for all the great answers. I just wanted to add the detail that I serve my cat’s dry food and we never provide scraps from the table

I have 2 cats. A big fat black and white one named Ming Lee and a small little yellow one named Ling Lee. They both love to eat the plants when we’re outside. Especially Ming Lee. I usually see Ming Le biting the plant. Like chewing it. I asked someone what is it for and they told me that’s a cat’s medicine. That means there taking there medicine. Is this true ?

I have two cats at home and one of them always likes to try to eat the leaves or the petals of the poinsettias almost all of the time that she can get away with it. My mom and I try to keep both of our cats away from eating the leaves and petals of the poinsettias, but one of our cats is very persistive with always doing it.

My brother and I each got a cat from a litter about 10 years ago. So for 10 years these brother cats have lived together in the same house. I’m moving out next month and I want to take my cat with me, but I’m wondering if moving AND not having his brother with him will be too much change. I could take both cats, but it would obviously be a little bit more money to take care of both of them.

I am always traveling for work and usually out of the house for at least 2 days every week. However, I would really like a pet and heard that cats can do well in this type of environment and as long as their given adequate water and food they’ll be ok if left alone. Is this true? And would it be better for me to get a kitten so they can adapt to this kind of schedule from an early age or a older cat?
In response to Tara and future “answerers”…This is a QUESTION as to whether or not I should bring a cat into my life. Please do not barrage me with strong and tacky responses aimed at making me feel bad for even thinking about this choice. Thanks.

Okay heres the issue. I have two cats. They are 8 months old and sisters. They have both been fixed which I thought would calm them down. They get into everything and chew on everything. At night they are more hyper and run around and cause a lot of noise. I love them to death but I really wish they were mellow cats. My roomate has a cat too. She is 10 months old and has always been calm. She doesn’t jump into the fridge or the cabinets like the other two. She is so mellow. How do I get my cats more mellow.
I play with them a lot when I get how from work. I try to get them tired for bed but it just doesn’t work

I have three cats. The two oldest cats are declawed, but my sister’s cat hasn’t been declawed. She goes around like she owns the place, and keeps attacking my other cats. It happens everyday. How can I prevent her from doing this?
I’d appreciate anyone and everyone’s help. Thanks!

My cat has always been an outdoor one and I always kept his food dish and water outside, around my front door. I recently moved to a new part of town and I continued keeping his food outside, but now its attracted several cats. Sometimes I walk outside to find over 8 cats running around my yard. I even find cat paw marks all over my windshield. What can I do to keep these strays away, and off my car?
I have two German Shepards, but I keep them in the backyard.
