Any way to keep cats from digging up lawn?

For whatever reason, the neighborhood cats LOVE to poop and pee on our lawn. They also dig it up with their claws when they scratch around. They act just like dogs, and now our front yard stinks, and our lawn has dirt patches and big patches of yellow where the cat urine killed the grass. Does anyone know of any good ways to keep cats off of the lawn?

Any fertilizer with a strong scent will cover what they are actually doing. animals mark their territory, you are suffering from kitty finding another kitty finding another kitty…and all of them are trying to mark that territory as their own. Strong scented yard treatments will usually do the trick

I have the same problem. They have given my dogs the nastiest fleas too. I would say the best solution would be to push for legislation restricting the freedom of cats. Dogs can’t run free, can they? Since that’s not going to happen… this is what I plan to do next summer. Animals will not go near anywhere they smell a natural enemy. You can order any kind of urine brew off the internet. I believe Coyote scent would do the trick. Good luck!

There is a product called shake away for cats and it is made of predatory animal urine. It is safe and will not harm the pets, children, or plants.
If you have a Lowe’s then you may find it there as well.
    Good Luck
