Are there any cat foods that lessen the smell of a cats poop?

I have purchased air freshners, litter box crystals, baking soda and tried different litter. Is there a type of food that would reduce the kitty smell? Or what litter works best for you? Or what air freshner cuts the smell the most? Help!

Avoid all liver and organ meats. PeeUuuu.
Get a try with a hood. That helps. I use clay litter with carbon. Nothing is perfect, but this helps.

If it smells in the bowl it will smell in the litterbox… try mixing dry and wet or using only dry. You could even just remove the poop as soon as it gets in the box.

I suppose it helps if you tell us what kind of food you are feeding them. I use grain free dry and wet for ours and they do not stink I have 5.

The better the quality of food the less the cat box leavings and the smell is diminished. However this is not going to solve everything. You can try also to change your cat litter and uses commercial additives such as Tiddy cats powder in the cat box to cut down on the order. Don’t change the cat box litter rapidly cats are creatures of habit and you should mix the new cat litter with the old kind and let them get used to it when changing brands.

you can may b give your cat more fiber and lots of water, then you dont have to worry about the smell regarding to what you’re feeding your cat.

canned food that is mostly meat and organs make them gassy. hard food is just the same, and doesnt make them skinny. my cats pretty muscular, actually. you could also get a litterbox with a cover on it, that helps.

When i first got jixer i used fresh step but his poop stinks soo bad. i eventually switched to tidy cat they are little beads and i havent smelled anything since

Science Diet. Buy it in the big bag to save money because it is pricey but it is what veterinarians recommend. Your pet won’t make as much mess either so it balances out. For the cat litter, use the Arm and Hammer brand and empty the clumps of litter daily. Oust brand air freshener works best.

I have three cats and used to have the same problem as you. I use Ever Clean cat litter. It works very well in reducing the odors. Hope this helps=]

The better food you put in the cat, the more its body will utilize the food and the less waste will come out. Dry foods purchased at the grocery store have corn as the main ingredient - not meat. And since their bodies can’t utilize it the corn and other grains in cheap food passes out of them in the form of huge poops. A lot of the cheaper foods also use fish meal in them - which definitely makes poop stinkier. So look for MEAT based foods with chicken and turkey and the main ingredient - not grains and fish. Also be sure to give your cat canned food as well as dry. Canned food’s ingredients are better utilized by the cat and an all dry diet is actually bad for cats.
How often are you scooping the poop? Even the healthiest of poops still has a smell so scoop the litter box at least once a day. If you only have one litter box for the two cats then dump it out entirely once a week.
This can get expensive with most litters but switch to wood stove pellets - super cheap. It’s the exact same compressed pine pellets as what’s sold as “Feline Pine” but without a cat face on the bag - and for 1/8th the price. You can pick up a 40lb bag for around $5! The pellets absorb the moisture from urine and totally neutralize the smell. If you dump the pan out when the pellets are about 50% broken down the pan dumps out completely dry - so changing the litter is a breeze.
You can find them at home stores and some grocery stores during the cooler months and year round at farm and feed stores since horse owners use them in the stalls to absorb moisture and odor. If you’re in a cooler climate there may be fireplace/wood stove suppliers near you that carry them year-round as well.
Lastly - worms and certain diseases can give the feces a really bad odor. So if you’re scooping regularly, feeding them a healthier food and still have super stinky poop a vet visit may be in order.

My cat vet suggested Royal Canin cat food, Indoor Light #37 to help keep the odors down and it works. Also it is very healthy for your kitties. The first ingredient on the label is chicken.
It is a dry food that should be introduced gradually to your kitties in their present dry food.
We feed our kitties Fancy Feast in the morning (1/2 can) and noontime (1/2 can) and then feed the Royal Canin about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. A half cup per cat. It works!

The quality of the food does play a part, but pet stores also sell a deodorizer which you spray on cat food, and like a week later, it cuts down the smell of both pee and poop. You might like to ask the vet first.

Many cats cannot digest corn, which is the primary ingredient of most dry foods, especially the ones you find in the grocery store. If you feed dry, try switching to one that contains NO corn. Corn can be disguised as corn meal, or corn gluten meal, but it’s still corn. You’ll need to go to the pet store to find one, and read the labels, but there are lots of corn free foods out there, and feeding one to them might help significantly. One of my cats cannot eat food with even a trace of corn in it - it upsets his stomach and gives him gas, and then you can’t stand to be in the same room with him :o(
