Can a cat still have live kittens inside after giving birth to 6 a day earlier?
A feral cat that we’ve been taking care of just gave birth to six kittens last night. I think she might still have one or two left in her. Is it possible that the kittens still inside could be alive? Two of the six she had look premature and I thought that if there are still some left in her, that they might still be developing. Could someone please tell me if this is possible and do I need to be expecting her to give birth again?

There is a VERY SLIM chance that they are still alive. She needs to be seen by a vet because if she hasnt had them by now thats not a good sign. As far as the 2 that looked “premature” it is usual for there to be a runt of the litter it is also very usual if one out of the litter doesnt make it. In most cases there is usually always one that dies in the first couple of days. For the two runts there is something called Nutrical that can be bought at a vet clinic and it will provide extra calories that they might need.

if she feels or looks like there is more in there, don’t worry she’s had all of them! 2 years ago i thought our cat still had kittens in there ( i felt them) i got scared and off to the vet we went for x-rays! turns out that they were’nt kittens! it was just that her body had’nt gone back to normal yet! but if your cat is acting like shes sick then you might wanna go to the vet, she could have an infection in her uterus! but if mom and her babies are ok, then don’t worry! shes done! ps our cat just had four babies a week ago, and she still feels like she has kittens in there, but she don’t=)

It is possible, but not likely. However, if she didn’t give birth to all of them, she needs to go to the vet, having an incomplete birth could be bad for momcat and kittens (born/unborn). Did the placenta come out? If not, you might have a problem.
