I would say no. You would have a job getting a cat in a bath anyway, they hate water. David B

It helps with dandruff if you do.
You can also give them a dust bath. Gloom Monster :]]

I would only bathe a cat if it got into something too sticky to clean off itself or something toxic that could hurt the cat if ingested. Maybe a skunk spray incident or something like that. Cats are very clean and unless they are very sick, will clean themselves very well. ♥Pretty♥ ♥Kitty♥

Not really, Unless they have fleas. Other than that, they are fine as like you said they are very clean. Karen S

Possibly. Although they do a good job of cleaning themselves, they still may require a bath from time to time. We have two cats and haven’t bathed either in over a year. One likes to crawl around in the ceiling in the basment and can get quite filthy. The other got out side and crawled under our car and got full of oil.
The only time that you ever really NEED to bath them is if they get fleas. loomis

Bathe the cat only if extremely necessary, like if muddy. Otherwise, cats lick themselves. Maybe try brushing or wiping away dirtiness. ?

Unless you’re going to enter you cat in a show ar anything you don’t have to, though if it does get muddy or just really gross you maybe should, just make sure you dry it off good because they can catch a cold if they stay too wet. Also if the cat just smells bad there’s this stuff that’s called dry bath or something close to that, but you can put that on it’s fur and make it smell good. blackend_rines

basically , cats clean themselves, unless you’ve got a long haired cat - which needs to be washed monthly. ?
March 30th, 2010 at 4:25 am
nope…they don’t need baths.
their salivia is a disinfectant
so it keeps them really clean
but if you have a long haired
cat then you’ll need 2 bath it
and brush its fur very often
or else dirt will bild up on
the cat and it will get really
sick. steven.r194

Normally cats never need a bath, unless in some cases cats just stop cleaning themselves for some reason, then it would be a good time to give them a bath. kawaii cat

Bathing with water can be very unpleasant for you and the cat. They sell bath wipes for cats and we use them once every couple months. It helps with his dandruff, makes him smell nice and makes him shed less. I don’t think it’s necessary but a little extra cleanliness can’t hurt, can it? Gabriel K

no a cat can keep themselves clean, if there is more than 1 cat they might clean each other. sweety.pye_24

i bath my three norwegian forest cats once a month. otherwise they end up smelling horrid and they love water anyway so they get in the shower with us or the bath. they have had baths since very young so it is enjoyable as they seem to know they get nice fluffy warm towels and a bowl of tuna afterwards. it helps to keep skin clear and give a glossy coat. but if you have never bathed you cat then look for alternative. kath

I start my kittens with a bath about once every 2 weeks.and trimming the nails once a week. it seems that they are more accustomed to it and seem to do better with it as they get older. If you choose to bathe the kitty put some water in the tub and go at it like your a pro. I would clip his nails before he goes into the tub. Just make sure you are securly holding the kitty into the tub. Dont wash his face… they hate water on the face! I would also make sure you have a cup to help in the washing out process.! When you are all done washing kitty make sure you dry him well enough that he is not dripping all over the place. I know cats keep them selves clean but i bathe in order to assist in the shedding. I would not worry about washing the kitty if we were not so allergic to them. I cant live with out a kitty…so we make sure they are washed often enough the allergies dont show up!
After growing up with washing as a kitten they are used to it and dont mind so much! hard2getbutch
