Most likely if it’s deprived of attention, and wants you to play with it. If it’s still a kitten though - it’s probably a phase. Roosie

It is because you are paying attention to something else. When I play plastation my one cat jumps up and sits on my hands and the controller. Wrapping Christmas presents is always fun….urgh. Rhiannon F

They just like to play … they don’t follow any rules, so they jump all over the place … they use you as a play buddy …
Yup, weird .. .but wouldn’t it be great if could do that whenever we wanted?

Every cat or kitten that I’ve ever had, has done this. They don’t want you to do anything else, or pay any attention to anything but THEM.
If you’ll stop what you’re doing, and give them some attention or a catnip toy for them to go chew on, they’ll leave you alone for awhile.
Weird, yes……….FUN, WONDERFUL…..YOU BET!! brutusmom

They want attention. They like the smell of the print that is on the paper. Have you ever tried to read the news? They love the print. Cats can be so retarded and smart at the same time. That’s why I love them so much. You never know what they will do next. cat lady

No it is not just you. Cat’s are known for liking the sound of paper scrunching, or the sound that it makes when you touch a plastic bag, and what better way to get to hear that paper sound but to jump in the middle of the papers that you are trying to work on, that way they can get some attention at the same time. Almost always if you open a regular size paper bag and lay it on it’s side on the floor, nine times out of ten your cat will most likely want to go climb inside of it and either play in it, or lay down and go to sleep in it. And yes, they can be very weird. Pam

It’s a game. They choose the most concentrated moment you are on something. In fact, I think they might say the same about us; we disturbs them very often in their 16 obligatory hours sleep! To get back in our coach, to listen TV to pump up the volume, to turn on the vacuum cleaner!
Sometimes mines are like trying to tell the equivallent of, “What? you got all day camping in front of TV, you eaten at your computer all day and now you sit playing videogames or reading? Hey! Even in 8 hours I move more than you and I’m fun! TAG! Get on your feet and do something! Run after me!”
Actually, itserved me well because my lil one did that in an average of 4 hours every time I was not taking pauses on my graphic contracts! So possibly they want you to care about them. Also, they might say that they also care about you! Taelma

When I need to study or am doing a school paper, my cat would just jump on my book and look at me like saying “pay me some attention, NOW!” and wanted me to caress and play. Otherwise, he was not a very affectionate cat. It’s just in his nature I guess. And yes, they like the sound of paper scrunched up. Have you tried the paper bag? I bring one from the grocery store… Hours of fun. Just like toilet paper roll, empty box, wrapping paper. No need to buy expensive toys. @ndre@nne
