HELP! Kitten health problem?
One of my families barn cats had a kitten about one to two weeks ago. She’s fine and everything, but she came back into heat already. Her kitten is really thin and is having convulsions. She had another litter about eight to nine months ago, just before winter. Only one of the kittens survived. The others died of some weird illness. I think this kitten has it too. I have a feeling he has some kind of worm, seeing how when my cats last litter died they all seemed to be feeling a really bad pain in their stomachs. I would take him to the vet, but I am only 14 and live out in the country. I have asked my parents to take him, but they don’t want to because of the cost. I brought him in the house right now, but if my parents knew they would kill me. If anyone knows something I can do for him at home, PLEASE let me know. I’M REALLY SCARED AND DON’T WANT TO LOOSE HIM!!

That poor little cat needs to go to the vets urgently. If your parents had any concious on them they would take it to the vets no matter what it costs.

look on the internet to find a cats shelter number and phone them for advice, you may even be able to take the cat to a shelter and they will do it for free. look up, celia hammond animal trust, 02086912100 or RSPCA Putney Hospitial 02087898252, i know these are london numbers but they may be able to give you a bit of advice and maybe tell you a branch closer to you.
Good luck x

I would ring the RSPCA or my local cats protection and explain the situation to them. They are very helpful and will often cover the cost of any vet bill.

Unless your parents want to put their cats AND YOU through this “trauma” time and time again, they need to have all of the females spayed! Losing litter after litter, and getting pregnant over an over again, will eventually KILL your cat.
When parents don’t care……..and yours apparently are only concerned with the cats keeping mice out of the barn……..not worrying about the health of the cat….after all “cats are a dime a dozen” (at least that’s what it sounds like your parent’s are “saying”, by the way they’re treating this situation!
A kitten having convulsions, sounds like there some kind of poison in the barn that the mama cat is bringing to the “nest” where she had her babies. I’m sorry for your situation. I know you love your kitten and want it to live, but I really doubt that it will.
I’m really sorry………….Good luck!

Your parents are behaving absolutely terribly.
If they receive benefits, tell them to look on the PDSA website and contact them STRAIGHT AWAY.
Other than that, I personally (whether I was 14 or 24) would call a vet myself. Tell them that your parents don’t want to bring the cat because of the price and ask for their advice. They won’t charge you for speaking on the phone. Or call a rescue shelter and they will help you. Or even call the RSPCA. You are only 14, but you are old enough to know what is best for this cat.
Your cat should be spayed, for a start. It is completely unfair of your parents to allow her to keep getting pregnant - she clearly is not well enough to produce a healthy litter and this is incredibly cruel for both her and her kittens.
I don’t want to scare you, but I am worried that if you don’t do something straight away, both your cat and her kitten WILL die. Please print out our answers and leave them for your parents to see.
Message for the parents - take your cat to a vet NOW. You cannot leave this poor animal to die. If you cannot afford to look after her properly and to have pet insurance, you need to hand her over to your local shelter: YOUR CAT IS IN SERIOUS NEED OF HELP
