If the mother put them there to protect them they will not come out as they wait for her to bring them food. If she has been killed and cannot get back to them they will come out with a food lure eventually. Hopefully they are old enough to be at least partially weaned. Put out some KMR milk in a small saucer during the day, early morning or before dusk and see if they will come for that. Since you can't know their age exactly a little canned meat mushed up with the special meat might lure them out too.

When they get used to your providing food for them they will come out and be very easy to pick up. Just go very slowly with it. They will most likely be safe under the house from most predators if their mother is not around to protect them.old cat lady

I really really really liked nurse Susan's ansewer. Born wild means wild, means scared. You have to gain their trust and take the time to be able to handle them. When they are all eating what you've put out, after they are used to you being around you can try to pet them. After several times you may be able to handle them. In Georgia, we fed stray kittens constently and used this method as soon as we realized there was a new litter. The mother was usually impossible to catch, and all the kittens that we caught were given to a humane society that didn't put the kittens to sleep. If this exists in your state it would be the best option. If you don't catch them there is a possiblity they can get very sick and stay sick... there are a variety of diseases but some of ours died from some kind of cat flu that could have been easily treated if we could have only caught them. The ones that we caught lived and were adopted out. Good Luck!snoepje

DO NOT try to force the kitties out. Do they have a mom? If not, set out some kitten chow and water for them. If they do, set out some 'adult' cat food after the kitties eat.
Put down the food and walk away. Let them eat undisturbed.
Every day put the food slightly closer to where you sit, so they get used to your prescense. When they are done eating and 'washing up', then you can try to touch them gently.
They will have to go to the vet eventually - feral cats are at risk for a lot more diseases than house cats - so don't fall in love with them yet!Nurse Susan
