Oh my gosh! Mine does the same thing! I found that since he was starting to pee upstairs, that he was getting lazy and didn't want to go downstairs to pee (i wouldn't want to either!!) and so I put a litter box upstairs that he pees in now. But yes I have to make sure its clean or he'll pee on all my laundry.

Try Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra Litter Attractant which you can buy at PetSmart. It's a finely ground herb mixture that is sprinkled on top of regular cat litter and costs around $13.99 (one 20 oz. container treats 100 lbs. of litter). It also comes with a great brochure with all kinds of information about cats and litter box problems. I cleaned the litter box, put fresh litter in it, and my cat was in the box in less than one minute--no exaggeration. Dr. Elsey's also makes a cat attract litter, but I tried the litter attractant first for economical reasons, and it did the trick.

How can you forget to clean the cat box? Don't you smell it?

I would take the cats to the box and put them in it. That's what I did when I moved.

Yes, but it may take a little effort. First, buy one more litter box to put in a new location. Also, this could be a territory dispute. Make sure that you always have one more litter box than you do cats, or more. Sometimes cats become a little obsessive. What I mean is, they will pee in one box and defecate in the other. So if you don't have enough boxes, they are going to look for another place. And never under estimate the power of a good squirt from a spray bottle filled with water to get them off your clothes. But don't let them see you spray or they may rebel against you. Hope this helps!

You may have to confine them to one room with the litterboxes for a few days till they decide you are going to keep them clean. You must scoop the boxes every day and change the litter once a week or they will continue to find alternative spots to pee and poop.
