A cat won't go potty in litter that is used. #2 Always keep the litter box in the same spot and make sure it's a spot that's easy for him to get to. #3 Watch him and every time you see he is about to go potty, pick him up and put him in the litter box. #4 Make sure he knows that you're upset when he goes potty on the floor. You can try showing him the potty and then spraying him with a water bottle or just yelling NO!!! really loud. Spanking him or hitting him won't work, as cats are very resilient when it comes to pain. #5 Don't throw him into the litter box. He may view that as playing.
