How do I get my kitten to sleep through the night?
Two weeks ago I rescued a three month old kitten fro
the local shelter. Since then I don’t think I have gotten 8hours straight of sleep. I’ve asked around with friends with cats and googles stuff but nothing I try seems to work. She doesn’t stay on her bed and when I pick her up to put her on her bed she just scratches and bites at my hands. How do I teach and or discipline her to go to bed?
Please please help I’m desperate.

My puppy did the same thing. So eventually i learned that if you hold the kitten on your chest close to your heart, he/she will sleep longer and fall asleep faster. You must hold him/her on your heart because the heart beat reminds them of their mothers heart beat and will cause them to sleep. Zero

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but here it is: she’s not going to sleep through the night! She’s a baby kitten and so she is full of spazzy energy and very playful! Cats are not nocturnal but I find my 2 guys prefer to sleep during the day. For a kitten, night time is PLAY time! Reese’s Mom

You will never teach her to sleep through the night, cats are nocturnal. You can expect them to be less annoying as they grow older. In the meantime, get a cage for night-time. One with enough room for litter pan, food, water, and play space will be a blessing to you and is not cruel for the kitty. Just don’t use for anything else but sleeping and safety, and kitty will love it. krazeekarma

if u hav space put her in a seperate room. If u dont try sprinkling some catnip on her bed (they love that stuff) or putting a hot water bottle there. Or even reward her with treats if she stays in her bed yOu kNOw IM RIGHT

She is a typical kitten. She doesn’t stay on her bed because it is not her idea. And cats are nocturnal, so they spend time up at night. In fact, they sleep in short stints throughout the day and night. Giving her a window to look out at night often will keep her occupied by watching the goings on in the yard.
For biting and scratching you, I assume you are not playing with her with your hands, otherwise she is thinking your hands are playthings. Probably the easiest way to train her not to bite or scratch is to simply hiss at her when she does it. Mother cats hiss at their kittens for training.
The good news is that they grow up quickly and their all night activity fades. The bad news it won’t happen by tomorrow.
You can try playing with her to wear her out before you go to bed. That way you may fall into a deep enough sleep that your won’t hear her. Having her chase wads of paper or chase a string provides her with lots of exercise. cat lover

well with oiur kitten we put her food and water bowls in the laundry as well as her bed and kitty litter then we close the door. an hour later we check up on her and she is in her bed curled in a little ball so mayby try that, but check up on her before you do go to sleep and make sure she cant go into your washing machine or toilet or anything else dangerous. chris_94
