How do I know my cats are drinking out of the cat water fountain?
My parents bought this new cat water fountain for our cats to help them drink more water. However, I haven’t seen them drink out of it and I’m worried they aren’t getting enough water. Yes, the water does go down and we have to fill it but the water is near a few windows where the sun is so I’m wondering if the water is just being evaporated. So how can I tell? Sometimes I even wonder if they even LIKE the cat water fountain.

Put a dye in the water then check the cats’ tongues. Wally Balls

You just need to watch it like a hawk.
In my experience, you buy fancy expensive items for cats and they just saunter over to a cheap item you already had. ie. your cats are probably drinking out of the toilet pickledcookie

They will die of thirst if they are not getting it. Dont worry, cats are fast learners. They are drinking just fine Trent S

unless there is water some place else that the cats can get to, they must be drinking some of the water from the fountain. if the cats haven’t had water in a while you would notice some differences in the cats. they may just have certain times when they drink. i have a cat water fountain and my cats love it. i will tell you though do not keep it where the sun can get to it directly, you will get green mold/algae in the holding tank! and it’s a pain to get all that green out. I just bought one myself a few days ago. I removed all except one other water bowl. I’m convinced my cats hate the new fountain. It is going back in the morning. It would have been nice if they liked it but they just stare at it. kim g
