How do I wean kittens from its mother?

They should wean themselves. Eventually they’ll start being mobile enough to discover other cat food. They’re probably going to still keep going back to their mom for milk even after they’re eating regular food.

You don’t have to do anything. The mother will do it herself when she is ready.

The mother cat will wean them when they are ready. When you notice her being agitated by their feeding, Try givivg them a few bites of soft food to see if they can eat it ok. If so, start putting it out for them.

Mother cat will wean her own kittens naturally. No need to interfere unless there is an emergency.

This site gives some good advice. Give the kittens some high quality canned food or dry food for kittens, but softened and mixed with water. Don’t give them too much and leave it out. Keep it fresh and they will gradually start to eat more solid food and, usually, Mom will decide she wants more time to herself. Mom’s generally start being less available for nursing. When that happens, make sure the kittens are eating and eliminating on their own. Mother cats lick the babies to get them to relieve themselves, so make sure the kittens have a box nearby and that they use it.

u shouldnt have any part in this. when the mother doesnt want them to nurse she wont allow them to.

The best way is to let the mother do it when she thinks the time is right.
Do you realize that for every 1 person born, there are 7 puppies and kittens
born? At best, 1 will find a forever home.
And don’t forget, that every “Free-to-good-home” litter takes homes away
from animals already at the shelter.
STOP letting your pets; or your friends, relatives or co-workers pets
contribute to the problem.
If you love animals, it is NOT ENOUGH to merely say “My pets are fixed”.
Vow to educate and enable others to fix their pets too.
Spaying just 1 female dog or cat, will prevent 6 others from ending up in a
shelter the following year.
Please be part of the solution, NOT the problem!

Kittens shouldn’t leave their Mom until around 10 weeks of age, she will do the weaning and as long as they can eat by that age, they’re fine to leave her then. Mom will wean them but you can start giving them a little wet food mushed with water and then you can give them some soaked cat biscuits as their ability increases. They will get more food on them than in them to start with but don’t worry. By the time they hit 7 weeks, they should be having around 4-6 meals a day. It doesn’t matter if they’re still feeding off Mom until they leave, just so long as they can eat cat food on their own.

You dont wean them. The mother does. At about 5 weeks old, start introducing kitten food to them.
