When they start eating solid foods, take some extra effort and feed them a premium food rather than a junk food, so they grow up as sleek and healthy as can be. My rescue kittens are all fed Innova's EVO, and I have never had healthier kittens - they thrive on it. Avoid foods that are laden with corn and by-products as these are cheap fillers meant to increase the manufacturer's profits, not provide good nutrition for our cats. It's especially important to get babies off to a good start, as their immune systems are just developing, and their bodies are rapidly growing. The babies should stay with mom until they are at least 8 weeks old, preferably a bit older. At age 8 weeks they should get their first distemper vaccine, as they will no longer be getting protection from the antibodies that mom provided them in her milk. Plan out Mom's spay appointment for as soon as the kittens are weaned, and be warned that mom can get pregnant again even while she's nursing those babies!
