How long does it take to birth a litter of kittens?
I’m getting worried about my cat. She has gave birth to one kitten this morning about 6 AM. Now it is 1:30 and still only one kitten. Judging from the size of her belly, she was definitely carrying more than one kitten. She is panting and licking herself like she is still in labor, but I’ve never seen it take this long to birth a litter. My other cat gave birth to five kittens within two hours, so I don’t know how long it usually takes. She’s really an outdoor cat and is a little feral, but she decided to have her kittens in the bed of my dad’s old truck he doesn’t drive. I know I should leave her alone as much as possible and give her privacy, but i was just wondering if I should be concerned about how long its taking.

You should be concerned… If she hasn’t had another cat in 7 hours, either she is done, or she is having trouble. You should see the vet… If she can’t have them in such a long time, it’s not going to change just by letting her sit around and suffer.

According to my friend,It should take like 15-20 minutes, but if its taken this long and you can tell by the size of her stomach, then she may have had a miscarrage. Its almost like women. My friends mom had a miscarrage where they had to dig the body out of the stomach.Yes….I Know its disgusting.

Several years ago I was adopted by a pregnant stray. It took her about three hours to birth five kittens.
I would rush your kitty to the vet if I were you.

call the vet!
there’s at least 2 kittens that just got eutheinized in shelters, and it sounds like more to come. Poor kitties.
