Hello, my cat is around 9 years of age (we don’t know exactly because we lost the birth certificate) he’s healthy, happy, playful, expert at jumping and hunting. My cat goes outside but he only goes on my patio(its not like he wonders around the whole neighborhood) and what he does is, he hunts down lizard’s. But he’s only out their for a good 10 minutes. So now that I gave you some detail on my cat tell me how long will he live? Oh and how much should he weigh I herd that’s a big factor.

I have two eight year old cats, and they are also very healthy. On average, cats live anywhere from fifteen to eighteen years. Of course, this is average, so it varies for each cat.
It would extend your cats life if he got plenty of excercise, a healthy brand of cat food, and limited time outside.
Your cat sounds quite healthy, as long as he doesn’t spend too much time outside (he can catch fleas or diseases if he goes on grass or spends time with other outside cats). But it seems like your cat is in very good condition, so he could live to be a good sixteen, seventeen years. Take good care of him though, and ask your vet about the right type of pet food to feed him. As he gets older, he may need food specially formulated for senior cats. (A senior cat is seven years or older. Technically, he is a senior already, but I’m sure he is fine with a healthy brand of adult food for now.)
As for weight, it all depends on the size of your cat. My male cat weighs 19 pounds, but he is not fat at all! He is very long, and has large paws. He looks like a small bobcat!
But if your cat is built smaller, then it is normal for him to be anywhere from 10 to 14 pounds. (A litter smaller or a little larger is fine.)
As long as your cat is not overweight or lethargic (chronically lazy), I’m sure he is a normal weight. Make sure he gets enough exercise, but he will slow down a bit as he ages.
Good luck! Your cat sounds very healthy. holagrl34

Kitties often live to be 18 to 20 years old. They’re sr citizens, so to speak, by the time they’re 14. So anything over 14 is a ripe old age.

As far as what they weigh, it’s similar to people or other mammals. You have to take a look at the animal’s gender and bone structure. For instance, I had a female kitty who weighed 7.5 pounds. Then I had another female who was a long lanky big boned kitty– her normal weight was 10 pounds. Anything less and she’d start looking skinny.

Males tend to be larger than females though you can get small males and large females. I once had a dog who was in a breed that tended to have large muscular males. But he was a small male. So he weighed about 20 pounds less than a lot of other males of that breed. Same with cats. Also, how muscular is the cat? Muscle weighs a bit more. So a happy active dynamic male like your cat would probably weigh anywhere from 9 to 12 pounds, maybe a bit more, as a slim healthy weight. A really large male in good shape could conceivably weigh 14 to 15 pounds if he’s long/tall and muscular. But if he’s not, then that would be overweight.

You can also check with your vet the next time you bring the cat in. Voltaire’s Child
