I would check with local vets and adoption agencies on the price they place on adoption. It can be very appealing to a future owner if the kitty has it's first round of shots and and been spayed or neutered. If you're not concerend with profiting of the sale of the kitty's I would charge what the local vet charges to get a kitty ready to adopt. This way you're not left paying for kittys that you're not keeping and you know that only serious owners will be interested in your kittys.

Neutering costs are much less than for spaying. The first step is to make sure the home they are going to is a loving and forever home. A neuter can easily run over $50, and spaying can even approach $200, but more likely you can find a place what will do it for about $100 if you avoid all the add ons.

Any adoption should be with the promise of the adopter to have the kitten spayed or neutered.

If a person shrinks from a $50-100 cost, perhaps they are not really committed to having and caring for a pet. Are you planning to give them a certificate good for the cost of the spay or neuter for the kittens and that is why you are wondering about the cost? Or, hopefully, is she planning to have the mother cat spayed, and hopes to recoup the costs?

You can also call a local shelter, and see what they charge for an adoption. Often the adoption costs include spay/neuter and even some follow up visits with a vet.

None, you can get free kittens everywhere..so why would you pay someone for them.

Why is she getting cats, when she cannot afford to spay/neuter them?
She needs to break open the wallet, and spay/neuter her cats.
Then she needs to make sure that the kittens go to good responsible homes.

There are so many kittens and cats, that are unwanted. They end up being put to sleep, or worse dying a horrible death.
Why on earth would someone want to contribute to that?

I have always thought that a "good" price for a kitten would be the cost of spaying or neutering. If I were doing it I would take the money as a deposit and return it when the new owner has proof that the operation has been performed.

If the adopting person is not willing to do that it can indicate that the kitten won't ever see a vet for necessary shots, worming, testing, etc..

Six weeks is too early for kittens to go to new homes. Not only is the relationship with the mother important the kittens need to have the playtime and socialisation with their siblings to grow to be emotionallywell-balanced cats.

If you feel the local veterinary prices for spay-neuter are too high then investigate what low-cost clinics are available in your area and give that information to the adopters.

$40 is more like the cost of a rabies shot and spay/neuter. The animal shelter charges this amount here in my area.

A good price is $25 to $50 (about the cost of spaying/neutering). That way, people won't be put off by too high a price, and you won't be giving it away to a deadbeat who shouldn't own a cat in the first place. If someone's not willing to pay for a pet, they're probably not willing to pay for shots or veterinary care, either
