If you begin to trim and groom them at a younger age, it will not become some problematic when they get old. My friend tried trimming her cat's claws for the 1st time when he was over a year old and it was not fun. We have to wrap him up in a towel now to do it. Just be careful to trim the ends, only a couple of millimeters, because there are blood vessels deeper down (I suppose you can see them in kittens, their claws are quite transparent) 1. If they have clear nails it is easier to see the blood vessell, if they do not, just clip the very tip. If you are gentle, they will learn to sit quietly to get trimmed when they are older.
