I would tell my parents to REMEMBER to leave out food. Call them every couple days. (so cats don't get dependant, and so they can hunt)If you want to trap one, you should trap the kittens, because they're young and naive. BUY A CAT CARIER, AND HEAVY DUTY GLOVES, AND WEAR LONG CLOTHES TO AVOID GETTIN SCRATCHED OR INFECTED! Bring out some fish (tuna, salmon, halibut, whatever) and start meowing to the best of your ability. If you hear little meowing answers, start waving the fish around. If you don't try again later. Then, slowly reach out a stiff hand to kitten and try to pet it. If it backs away, grab it and put it in the carrier. If it lets you pet it, slowly get a grip on kitten and see if it will let you pick it up. When it starts to squirm, put it in the carrier. GOOD LUCK

Are the cats friendly? Do they let you pet them? If not, try to lure the cats into your garage, and you may be able to catch them that way. You could get a live trap at your hardware store (same thing used to live-trap squirrels and other critters).

The biggest thing, is if you do catch them, get them spayed or nuetered and vaccinated! If you don't have the money to do that, try contacting your local cat clinic. Sometimes they will take the cats in and handle the cost of them.

You are so on the right track. A rescue group will be experienced in this matter and can help the cats and kittens find a home where they will be safe and cared for. Thank you for helping them. They need you. Don't give up. Do a Google search for cat rescue groups in the area.

You don't want to trap them cause you could hurt them. You should take them to a animal shelter where they can find a loving family.
