I have heard from friends that they fill clear plastic bottles up with water and leave them in the garden, they do say it works.

Do not place dangerous equipments as it would hurt the cat. Make a small fence area in your garden and bring it in there every time it want s to poo. It would make it a habit for the cat. The small fenced area must be clean by spraying water from a hose to flatten down the poos and the water allows it to biodegrade faster with the aid of the grass.

My mum puts big, clear plastic bottles in the garden, filled with water. It's something about the cat not liking the creepy reflection of itself.
Personally, I prefer the poo to a load of old bottles.
She might be going senile.

I filled all my flower beds with river stones so they had nowhere to dig. Or try getting big cat scat from a zoo, they get the smell and the are too scared to come in to your garden, It does stink but a very small amount spread around the garden boundary will do the trick

You can get powder to put down - usually garlic or citrus scented that the cats don't like. Try Wilkos or somewhere (if in UK). Most garden centres should stock this type of thing. The drives on my street are gravel and I know people use this and it seems to work best.

Other options include high pitched noise deterrents that only animals can hear. These are wall mounted and work on a sensor but are probably quite expensive.

You can also get a fake cat type thing that reflects light to try and scare off the cats a night - I shouldn't imagine these work very well!!

Best option probably a dog though!

I had exactly the same problem! I recently bout a high frequency soundwave type contraption that attaches to your fence or sits on your grass and when it senses a warm body it lets out a sound (inaudible to humans) and it terrifies the cats but doesn't upset birds. It really works! We haven't had a cat anywhere near our garden for weeks!! Have a look on ebay.
