I have 2 kittens and 1 of the kittens keeps eating from other kittens food bowl even before his food is eaten?
It’s annoying because the kitten whos food gets eaten by the other kitten walks away.
Why does this happen? Is it bullying?
If so how do I stop it? I don’t want 1 of my kittens to think it can get away with things like that.

Why not just have 1 food bowl? =] that way its not bullying.

If you’re going to feed them separately in separate dishes, feed them in separate rooms. They probably don’t even realize that they have assigned dishes. Our 3 cats all eat out of the same bowl. There is always food in the dish so they can eat whenever they are hungry.

its a dominance thing…it will always be there! the only way to prevent it might be to seperate them in different rooms when they eat.

Just let them share. One kitten WILL wind up trying to bully the other, but they will fight it out in a playful way. They grow out of it, but this behavior with the food is totally normal. For some reason, whatever HE has is so much better than what I have
As long as both are getting enough food, they are perfectly fine.

“i” would have one cat food bowl in one room so they are away from another so the cat who eats out of both has to walk a lot more so the other cat can get some food and probly the cat whos not eating is getting food somewere else

If the one that is eating his food is the oldest, that could explain it. But, try separating the cats for a while. But, before, Put their food down together and if he tries it again then put him back to his bowl. If he does it yet again, take the bully and put him and his food somewhere else away from the other.

I have dogs that do the same thing, it’s merely them showing that they are the alpha male/female. The one kitten walking away is completely fine with the other being the alpha. If you want them to stop you should keep their bowls separate and far away from each other. Also watch them as they eat for some time and make sure they eat from their own specific bowl. Hope that helps.

they will do this because they know which one is theirs and will eat the other one because they know that they can eat both if they do that. because it knows the other one will just walk away. it isnt really bullying. you may have to feed them in seperate rooms or at different times.

cats like dogs have dominance issues there is always 1 dominant animal.this is just another form of it. if it really bothers you get a squirt bottle and watch the 2 of them eating if you see the 1 go to the other’s bowl pick it up and give it a few squirts from the water bottle

the cat that is eating the other cats food feels dominate is the alfamale. if i was in your pusistion i would hold back the cat that is eating the food wile the cat that gets no food eats.

Everytime the kitten goes for the other kittens food, just as he’s about to eat it move him back to his bowl, so you’ll have to watch over them.
Also try feeding them at different times.

Put the cat that keeps taking the food in another room when he does that and let the other cat eat first until the other one learns that it’s not ok, that way he’ll learn.

is not bullying, just survival of the fitness.
you could feed from separate bowls, in separate rooms, thus keeping an eye on food intake of both cats. once they have gotten accustomed to eating from their own bowls, you could try feeding them in the same room.
