If lead based paint were found in dog chew toys and cat toys, would it be harmful to pets?

That’s a very good question and I haven’t even thought about it. Of course it can hurt an animal, just like it hurts humans. Hm, I’m going to check on this one with the pet store to make sure. VERY GOOD QUESTION.
EDIT: You really shouldn’t buy any dog toy from China for now. I’m throwing all mine away.

Yes it could also cause potential led poisioning jsut like in humans. If the dog ingest too much it will make the dog sick and do damage.

Yes, our pets would suffer from lead poisoning. That is the very reason why I buy my dog toys from places such as Planet Dog (www.planetdog.com). This world is getting pretty scary!

Absolutely. Be careful where your dog’s toys were maunfactured. And the chews also.

Hadn’t even occurred to me! Thanks for bringing this up, I will be checking my dog’s toys for the “made in” label. I can’t imagine that lead would be good for dogs, but I’m not sure of the exact damage it would cause. Then again, my bulldog has eaten many things that I could have sworn would have made him sick and had absolutely no symptoms/problems. Maybe he has a cast iron stomach!

What is bad for humans is also bad for all warm blooded animals. Lead could be more harmful on pets as they ingest the lead more easily and are smaller than humans thus increasing the ratio of poison to body weight.

Yes it would definately be harmful to pets.
You know it kind of worries me too thinking about it. Who knows what kind of paint they are using.
What about the ceramic bowls that a lot of people use? What kind of paint and glaze are they putting on them?
The best bowls to use are the metal bowls.
Now days you just don’t know. It’s a scary world.
