Is actual potty training my cat a good idea?
I read about it, and it’s deffinately possible to train your cat to use a toilet. I’m getting a kitten soon and when it’s old enough I’m thinking about doing this. Do you think the cat would be ok with it or would it not like having to squat like that on the toilet? Is it comfortable for them do you think?

seems to me the seat would be too wide for the cat to properly assume the correct position without falling in or getting the tail wet– what happens with the natural covering the poop instinct??? will they cover it with TP? or flush…
seems like it could lead to more messy cleanups

Think for a second, would you like to sit on the same toilet the a cat pissed all over? I wouldnt!

I helped my now former girl friend do this many years ago. It was a lot of work. Cats can be really picky about how things change. A kitten might be easier. The following method worked. It required a special training litter box.
NOTE: Everything on this list is separated by at least 1 day. Just wanted to let you know in case I forgot to mention it.
The way it works is:
You get this training litter box. Its transparent.
You put it next to the regular litter box for a few days.
Then you put litter in it.
Then you take away the other litter box.
You move it closer to the bathroom each day.
When you get it into the bathroom you let it sit for a few days,
You move it up to the toilet (its made to fit into the seat) and leave it for a few days to make sure the cat is using it.
You empty the litter out of it and leave it for a few days to make sure the cat is using it.
You cut the bottom out of it and leave it for a few days to make sure the cat is using it.
You remove it altogether and YIPPY! Fluffy is potty trained.
Good luck.

Actually. I have one cat that will use a toilet. and another that thinks its a evil vortex out to suck her down to the abyss..
the siamese will use the toilet and was trained by using the Litter Kwitter system.
He does NOT piss on the seat.. Nor dose he poop on it ( atleast not anymore then a man does)..
the only thing he wont do is flush, and thats because I dont want a huge water bill so havent taught him to make the water go round.. he’d play with it.
