Catnip is very attractive to Cats, so if you don't want them in your garden I wouldn't plant any catnip. On the other hand if you do want cats in your garden and like the catnip plant you may need to put a little fence around it - because the cats will eat it. I used to have a cat that slept in a catnip plant (until it was no more that is).. Catnip can be bought in the form of sweeties for cats (they prefer it to choc drops generally speaking).
