Is it illegal to dump kittens on the street?

I know it probably is illegal to do this with human babies or children, but can I be responsible for dumping kittens on the street, I’m not sure if this is a crime or not. My cat had them yesterday and I’m hoping someone will just pick them up from an alley or something? Maybe I can put them in a cardboard box with the word “Free” on it?

I left the kittens on the corner of Abrams and North Cooper in Arlington, a half block west of Mcdonald’s. They are in a cardboard box and have a sign that says free on it.

If you only want one cat, have it spayed.
Meanwhile, kittens need to be with their mother for at least 8-10 weeks. Advertise them as free in the local stores and newspapers.

Don’t do that, do you live near a local animal shelter? Try and get them somewhere safe, so they won’t go into the hands of some stranger who could possibly harm them.

Put ads in the newspaper. Someone will want at least 2 of mthem. Then tell all your friends. But don’t leave them there to die.

It is illegal and it is also not humane… lots of states have laws against animal crutely and u can land yrself in jail !!!!!!!!Y don’t u drop them off at a local humane society or a pet store or something… may b u can ask yr local old age house or retirement home if they would like the kittens. MANY old ppl like to have company so ah lot of retiremnet homes r looking for trained animals that will stay with them !!!! Also if u leave them on teh street, ppl could harm them or kill them!!!! it is horrible.. don’t u ever watch teh news… it’s ppl like u that cause animals to b mistreated and hurt !!!!

If you are going to go to the trouble of dropping them in the street, why don’t you find the address of your local Humaine Society and drop them off there, in the office, during business hours. Just walk in, put the box of kittens down, and walk out.

I think it may depend on the state you live in. It definetly looks bad. Why not take them to the shelter or put some posters up. There are always people looking for kitties.

Animal abuse. Put the poor things with their mother until they are able to be adopted. If you can’t give them away, take them to an animal shelter. If you feel this way about this, you should have had your cat fixed in the first place.

No No No No. Please do not dump the kittens on the street. They have about a 5% chance of living in that case. They won’t be able to find food, they have a 50% chance of getting run over by cars, and they won’t be able to find shelter. Bring the kittens to a local animal shelter. Please don’t do that, it is just cruel. It doesn’t matter if it is legal or not. It is free to donate them to a shelter.

Dont just leave them out to die, they need their mother for a few weeks to eat and have a chance of survival. Wait just a bit when they are old enough and give them to a pet store.

yes it is illegal, it is considered ‘cruelty to animals’. Bring them to your local animal shelter… it wont cost you a thing!! It is not fair to ‘dump’ the kittens, someone should have done the responsible thing and had the cat spayed before she got pregnant. Call Alvarado Vet Clinic, they do it for super cheap… I have called around, and just had my female spayed, they may be able to take the kittens too. Call them 817-783-2257

Oh dear god!! What is wrong with you? Its called animal cruelty nimrod! Just because they aren’t human doesn’t mean you can throw them in an alley. Are you 5 years old? Does your mom let you use the computer? pick them up in an alley? all those kitten alley shoppers i guess. They have to stay & nurse with the mother for at least nine weeks. Then you can take them to animal shelter or put an ad in the paper for free kittens. Or get your mommy to drive you & give them all up to the shelter now, mother cat too. Obviously you’re not responsible enough to own one.

They are too young to be taken from the mother cat, they will starve & die.
IF you ONLY wanted one cat then why didn’t you get her spayed ?? Why did you let her out & get pregnant. You are NOT a responsible pet owner & you should be reported & not even be allowed to have one cat ! You don’t have a soul, a mind, or a heart if you dump those 1 day old kittens. I do not think it is illegal, just bring them to an animal shelter where they have a chance of being put up for adpotion and where they will be safe and get the proper care they need.
Or place an add in your local paper for free kittens, where they will go to a loving home.

Why haven’t you had you cat spade? Knowing that you “have no use for kittens”, this could have been very avoidable. Please just drop them off at the animal shelter. I looked up the website for Arlington TX Animal shelter, here

yes it is illegal intexas i know that and i live in the uk. take mama cat and the babies to a humane society like the aspca. you are irresponsible and don’t deserve to be owned by a cat. why didn’t you get her spayed at five months if you didn’t want kittens. i hope you get caught for it they would not survive without mama’s milk and warmth for eight weeks. you deserve to be locked up and the key thrown away for even thinking about it. please please please take the whole family to a no kill humane shelter
