Should I keep training my cat to use the toilet?

cat training
GarbageBin asked:

I’ve been training my cat to use the toilet for a long time, but she seems not understand what I want her to do although I have used many ways to train her. Should I keep training her to use the toilet? Or I should go back to the litter business?

I appreciate all of your opinion and help.

My daughter’s cat was using our toilet one time. It was quite funny. She was not very good at it, but she tried.

thats so cool!! i wish my cat would use the toilet… i think you should keep at it… it might work… when you get frustrated just go back to litter…

just keep trying, some cats take longer to train to use the toilet than others.

is she fairly young? if she is she will get it soon.

is she old? if she is, she may be stuck in her ways and may not get it

good luck though. i trained a dog to use the litter box and was in the process of training my cat to use the toilet when we moved and he escaped outside one day :(

I pray you don’t mean the traditional co mode.

How are you training her? Are you duct taping her to the seat and saying “Go Kitty!” ? They sell kits that you put on the toilet and you can put cat litter in it. Just put her litter box away and put her on the seat to show her where the litter is. After a while remove it. If she’s an adult kitty it may take her some getting used to. They sure love burying their stuff. :) It just takes time. Cats are finicky about wear they “drop off the kids” it you know what I mean. :D Make sure not to leave any clothes laying around cos if she gets pissed about her litter box being taken away she might pee on your stuff. Be patient. :)

keep training that cat. that’s so cool.

try to install a different lever for your flush. try to choose for a design that would entice your cat to touch it. or (this might be weird) when it poos, try to get those poo and throw them on the toilet. i know cats are very conscious about it and will surely follow you. try this often and you’ll see, your cat will do it.

I trained my cat to doo (sorry for the bad pun) it in the toilet. Its great no kitty litter to clean. It took about 2 months but no litter box cleaning. It does still horrible but all it takes is a quick flush.

maybe you could lift the toilet seat and put kitty litter box down in the toilet some how where he can start going then give it a couple of days and remove the box that might work

…wow, my cat spins records on the decks with a SERIOUS look in her eyes like “back up, Imma tear this one up!” (lol) so I’m not suprised to hear this. Maybe your cat feels better using the litter box, and would like to tell you that but can’t.

I think it’s cool that you’re trying! Keep it up. Did you look on line? They have sites that tell you how to go about doing it. I have a new kitty & I’ve been thinking of trying it myself,so, good luck!
