I have a female cat that is about 2 yrs old. She is normally a hyper cat. My friend brought over her 10 months old male cat and the female cat reacted in a way that I have never seen before. She became very defensive and hissing as she was going to attack. Is she acting that way because she has never been around cats before? Was she actually going to attack?

I got a small puppy in august when she was 3 months old. Now she is about 10 months old. I have 3 cats that are about 4 years old. I can’t get them to like each other! A bunch of people have told me that when they brought a puppy home to a cat they started fighting so the cat scratched the dog and they got along after that. My puppy has fought with the cats and still hates them. The cats would stay away from the puppy but she always chases them! What should I do?

Okay heres the issue. I have two cats. They are 8 months old and sisters. They have both been fixed which I thought would calm them down. They get into everything and chew on everything. At night they are more hyper and run around and cause a lot of noise. I love them to death but I really wish they were mellow cats. My roomate has a cat too. She is 10 months old and has always been calm. She doesn’t jump into the fridge or the cabinets like the other two. She is so mellow. How do I get my cats more mellow.
I play with them a lot when I get how from work. I try to get them tired for bed but it just doesn’t work

We feed both my cats Fancy Feast twice a day (about a tablespoon each time) and they have dry food out all the time. They are indoor cats so they don’t get much exercise. My kitten is 10 months old and I am afraid she is becoming overweight. My older cat who is 5 years old is losing weight, which the vet says could be worms or a viral thing, shes being treated for those in case thats what it is, but most likely its due to stress.
Any suggestions on how I can prevent my kitten from overeating, without denying my other cat food?

How long did your cat take to accept a new cat being introduced?

We have a 10 month old bengal cat and just introduced a 10 week old kitten at the weekend. It has been 5 days now and things have gradually improved but the established cat is still being a bit of a bully and out of character.

Interested to hear other peoples comments, experiences and in particular how long it took your cat to accept the new one?
To clarify a couple of Q’s: both the cats are bengals, the established cat (10 months) is female and the kitten (10 weeks) is female.
Oops I made a hash of that - let me start again, both are bengals, the established cat is FEMALE and the kitten is MALE. (sorry)
