Waldo asked: I have a cat and a dog, and both of them are inside animals. I want to get a doggie door so the dog can go in and out of the backyard, but I don’t want the cat to be able to get out and hop over the fence. He has his claws, but he’s never really been outside before. Is there any way I can keep him from getting out of the backyard?

My 2 cats are about 8 years old, neutered, and are brothers. I don’t know if the stray is a boy or girl. The first time it came around the 3 of them fought thru the door. Now, even it it comes near the steps my cats will start fighting each other! Its really bad fighting. They rip hair out! They start hissing and staring each other down. It lasts for about 10 minutes. Why are they turning on each other?

Ranchstar asked:
Cats carry toxoplasmosis which can cause pregnant women to miscarry. Toxoplasmosis can be fatal to some species. It is not true that cats bury their poo. Since new neighbours moved in with a cat, the lady next door has been constantly moving cat poo from her back lawn so that her grandchildren do not tread (or worse) in it. A different cat frequently poos on my front lawn.
I reiterate for those of you who are not reading the question. I do not own a cat. The lady next door does not own a cat. A cay poos on my lawn. A different cat, owned by new neighbours poos on her lawn.
Several of you have already explained that cats dig their poo into the ground. So are you suggesting that the lady next door and I are senile, blind or lying when we say that we have watche these cats poo on the lawn and leaveit.
I will say once again - I have watched the cat poo in my garden and not cover it.
The lady next door has only had the problem since we got new neighbours who own a cat. It is not fox or hedgehog - it is CAT and it is NOT BURIED

TheIceCream asked: My cat has recently been ganged up on by another cat in my area. He is constantly around our house starting fights with her. She’s a small cat and she’s had a few nasty bites these last few months. Usually after she gets bitten there’s a $300 vet bill to pay… What could I do to stop this other cat hanging around? Or if there’s nothing I can do, what kind of antiseptic cream could I put on the bite to stop it getting infected (that wont hurt her if she licks it off)?
I’ve been told she may be on heat, but this fighting has got to stop.

1. She has been spayed.
2. The male cat is not feral, he belongs to a nice lady down the road
3. This cat is NOT an inside cat. No way, not ever. You try having her in for one night. She has a cat door to wander in and out downstairs but the other cat has learnt to follow her in. I’m not keeping her inside. At all. Not an option. She’s psycho at night.
