Why would my younger cat start hating my older cat after the older one ran away for a half a day?

I have 2 female cats, neither spayed. The older cat ran out of the house for about 12 hours. She came home and now my other cat won’t have anything to do with her. Including eat from the same bowl or be in the same room. Why is this? Will my house ever be back to normal?
