What are some good kitten toys?
I have gone to pet stores but the selection for cats is so much smaller than for dogs. Usually my kittens just end up attacking my hair scrunchies or random objects laying around my apartment *lol* I would like to get them a few new toys to play with.

get it some cat nip

a piece of string is all a cat needs. Why spend more?
If you really want to spend cash, get a laser pointer. They love chasing the little red dot

Kittens love ANYTHING!! Just grab anything and play with them and they will love it. Mine like string, scrunched up paper, paper bags, cardboard boxes, a thing tied to a string. Get a laser light and shine the little red dot everywhere, my cats LOVE that!!! By the way, kittens don’t respond to catnip, just adult cats do.

plastic caps to gallon milk jugs, catnip tied up in a paper towel, empty cardboard toilet rolls, laser pointers

The dollar stores have this laser pointer. The cats go wild and chase the little red dot. It’s so much fun to use with cats. Just don’t shine it in their eyes.

I bought my cat so many toys, and she doesn’t play with any of them except one that’s a feather toy on a stick. Other than that she plays with the most random stuff around the house…the corner of the carpet, pens on the floor, hair ties, spots on the carpet. All the store bought toys I got sat around for a year untouched, so I tossed them. I think every cat is different.

i buy toys for my cat at PETCO and my cat loves them. my cat likes to chase anything that moves around alot and bothers him (wat cat doesnt?) so we got him this fishing pole lookin toy that has a mouse attached to it but usually requires someone to move the thing around. if u want them to play by themselves get them sumthing that has feathers attached to it or sumthin that they can kick around. or maybe u can get them a scratching post for their nails if they’re big enough or when they’re big enough. catnip works also.they also love yarn (i gave my cat a ball of yarn once nd he got tangled in it, lol)also if u hav a flashlight or sumthin thats similar then shine the light to floor nd move it around, my cat goes crazy for this!!! HE LOVES IT!!! maybe ur kittens will like it or any of these. wnt hurt to try.
HOPE THIS HELPS!!

toys that look like a mouse, there are toys that have catnip in them but be careful when buying toys for your cat there are toys that have bells on them if they come off will get in cats throat they love string/yarn the little plastic milk rings that come on jugs of milk or even rolled /crumbled paper in a ball, or even a rubber ball is nice but cats will be picky just like children they will have their favs

You mentioned that your kittens attack your hair scrunchies. Kittens actually like to play with hair scrunchies because of their elasticity. I reccomend finding an old scrunchie and tying it with a string to some sort of stick you can hold. Even the end of a pencil. Circle it around your kittens and they are bound to go nuts!
I think this is a good decision for your because many toys can cost $5-10 when in reality you are buying a feather on a stick or something of the sort!
Something you could consider buying is one of those fake mouse toys with pouches to fill with catnip, my cat loved it although after sometime she did shred it to pieces to get to the catnip.

I know what you mean about lack of toys of cats and cats need toys more than dogs do. you can use a crumpled up piece of wax paper, boxes, cats love boxes, empty water bottles string (PLEASE NEVER leave the string un attended, cats will eat it and get obstructions in the intestines)
go to your grocery store and ask for banana boxes they have a hole on the bottom and a few holes on the sides and what I do is I put it upside down and I put their toys in it and they can go in and get the toys they want to play with out of there and you don’t have all your toys laying all around the apartment. you can also cut their nails and put them in there and tap on the outside of the box or put your finger in one of the holes and your cat will try and get your finger, it’s a lot of fun except when the claws are long. lol!!

Don’t bother buying proper cat toys. They are often expensive and kittens quite often don’t find them that entertaining
Heres the best bit…………..You can make your kitten very happy with the most simplest and cheapest things of all.
Scrunched up tin foil
Scrunched up paper
Milk bottle tops
String
a cardboard box with cut outs so he can hide and jump out and pounce.
Even Scrunchies lol
anything is a toy to a kitten and they usually get more pleasure and stimulation from the above

okay, so i know people have already told you this, but here i go. never, never actually SPEND money on a cat toy. we tried, but our kitten, now cat, didn’t play with any of them. instead, try these (sorry if i’m being repetitive):
- paper grocery bag
- cardboard boxes
- wads of paper
- string
we did purchase two things which our cat enjoys. they were: a rod with a string & ball hanging off it (from the dollar store haha) and toy mice (with catnip, i do believe). of course, put catnip on anything and they’ll love it. the trick is, you never really have to buy them anything NEW to play with, it’s already lying around your house.
PS to the question in your answer to my question (wow, that’s confusing…haha). yes, people actually do ask that question. i see it almost every time i’m on here. so i decided to do a little experiment, and had no idea people would attack me for it. but it was kinda funny. haha =) thank you for being sane.

bake some chikin or fries or sumthin on tinfoil, eat the chicken and roll up the tinfoil and give it to kitty. Theyll love it. Better yet, put a wee bit of tuna in a ball of foil and watchthem try to tear it apart to get to the tuna(they eventually will) ONE DAY USE ONLY!!!!! Be sure to watch your kittens with that one because you dont want them to hide it and then u have to smell it for days.UGH By the way, you could just buy some yarn and let them track it around the house–my cats love to do that, but beware of where you walk, and the downside is that you have to roll it back up. My cats even chase balls of their own fluff!

Bows, balls, ribbon, string, those milk plastic things on the bottle, ummmm…….milk caps, hair scrunches are ok, straws, feathers, paper balls, old shoes, pretty much anything. Cats like to play with anything. Take a small item and toss it in the air. For the next couple days, that will be its favorite toy!! Oh, fans that have dangly stuff and go slow. Those are cool. ANYTHING!! Or, GET ANOTHER CAT!!!!!!! That could help. Good luck!!

take the twisty thing off the gallon of milk you buy and toss it into a non carpeted room. My Cats both love batting tem around.

my kitten loves a straw. lol shes addicted to it .
March 9th, 2009 at 5:26 am
The best thing about cats is you don’t have to spend money on toys. Anything you might find in your home is good enough for them… strings, paper balls, straws, wool, shoelaces, feathers, bells… even insects.
Try putting a fly or another flying insect inside a transparent plastic bottle (with the cap on, of course) and your cat will love it!

Go 2 the store and buy a rubber band ball. u can take of the rubber bands and fling them so she will chase them. or if she gets bored w/ that just throw the ball. u can also use your fingers and drum them on the table. my cat loves to chase my fingers around.
