What gender would my female cat get along with best?
I am looking into bringing a new cat into my home soon. I have a female cat though, she’s 2 1/2. I got her when she was about 5 months, and up until then she had lived with other cats. She is an outdoor cat and plays with other cats when she’s not home, but as soon as they get close to the home, she becomes very territorial, which females tend to do. Would she be more welcoming to a male cat?

I find neutered males to be the most accepting/acceptable cats. Females are very particular about new cats and usually don’t accept new females as easily as they do males. Whatever cat you decide on, make sure to do slow introductions. Plunking two strange cats down together will result in hissing, swatting, and hurt feelings. Set you new cat up in a room to himself for a couple of days so they can get used to each other’s scents. After that, allow short, supervised visits. Expect some hissing. As things progress, allow more time together. It usually takes 2-4 weeks for things to calm down- sometimes longer. Be patient. Allowing a slow introduction will make things go much smoother. Rushing things can cause riffs in the cat’s relationship that may never heal. Make sure both cats are spayed/neutered to help ease territorial issues. ♥Pretty♥ ♥Kitty♥

i elive she will be less up tight for 2 reasonsshell think she can have kittens which is every animals goal in life and if its a kitten, she wont see it as a threat but for extra precaution, take one of the toys or blankets form each cat and while locked away from each other, trade them untill theyre vused to the smell then put one in a cage with holes and let them sniff each other. let the caged one free, ***after knowing theyre not gonna fight*** and youre done french kitty

In my experience, females are more territorial and take longer to aceept a new cat in the house. I find it better to bring in a neutered male kitten rather then another rival female. So go with a neutered male kitten.
And if she is not spayed - get her done before you bring in any other cat. Ocimom
