Cats are obligate carnivores and do not need fillers in their food. So foods like Iams, Science Diet, Purina, etc. aren't all that good. They're filled with corn products, rice and other grains that cats just don't digest.

Innova Evo is expensive but probably the best one out there other than a raw diet. Other premium brands are good, too...Solid Gold, Chicken Soup, etc.

So what you want to do is read labels and stay away from foods with corn. Other fillers such as rice, etc. should ideally not be in the first 3 ingredients on the list. Also look for identifiable protein sources, i.e. "chicken meal" instead of "poultry meal" and "salmon oil" instead of "fish oil."

The more digestability a food has will be the less a cat sheds. It has a whole lot to do with nutrition. Good luck!

Good luck! scarlet_nightshade

I feed my cat purina one urinary tract food ever since she had a urinary tract infectioon last year. She hasn't had an infection since and come to think of it she sheds less. (Shes a long haired persian/himalayan)......you could also try brushing her every day and we get our cats hair shaved once a year in the summer. It keeps her hair healthy and she loves it.

I'd try purina one and see how that works. Good Luck :) Mere jai koi na
