Yes you can definatley help out if the mother is very comfortable with you. I would start the kittens on training pads which can be purchased at any petshop. Then start them on litter by just placing them in it and making them scratch at the litter, they should be able to take it from there. As for the food problem, i would place minx in a seperate room while they eat with someone who can distract her just until they're done. and i would relocate their sleeping area to somewhere in your room near your bed and just let Minx know that it's okay . and unfortunatley, yes, they will stay up all night i know from experience, but just surround them with quiet, yet fun toys, and hope for the best.

My cats nickname is minxy! I got her at 5 weeks and she wasn't weaned at all nor had she used a litter tray. I fed her whiskers cat milk from a spoon and gradually weaned her onto biscuit food. She learnt how to used her litter tray straight away - it must be instinct or some sort of smell.
Anyhow, cats are usually not fully weaned until they are 8 - 9 weeks old so Minx has plenty of time to do this. It does not take long at all, in some cases just a day or so, so don't worry. Cats are very clever little creatures even when they are kittens they learn very quickley. So in another 3 weeks I am sure they will be completely self sufficient from their mum!

Usually they begin to wean at about six weeks old. When the kittens begin to show int rest in the kitten food you may try separating them from Mom for a short time to allow them the opportunity to try it out. Don't forget that Mother Nature has her own time to do things! Good luck and God bless.

Minx (cute name!) is doing fine. If the kittens seem lively and are still suckling, then they're okay. As soon as they get teeth she will start weaning them, believe me!

The last of my cats that had kittens had only one survive - and she became supermum (well, apart from expecting us to baby sit when she wanted to go out on the town when kitty was 2 weeks old & she dumped her in bed with us!)
She started on solids at about 6 weeks although we eventually had to actually stop her pestering her mum for milk when she was about 10-12 weeks old as it was obviously hurting mum by that stage!!

How are you preparing the kittens food, they cannot go straight on solids, mix kitten food, with cats mild (more fluid than solid at first) and dip their paws in it, so they lick it off, gradually reduce the amount of milk until it is more solid than fluid. Once they start eating properly it will be natural for them to make the move to the litter tray. they are still very young, so it still may be a week or so before they are eating/using the litter tray fully - but if they are running around like looney's then thats good, so i wouldn't worry too much - just get the feeding sorted and the rest will follow

When my cat had kittens, they did not start eating kitten food or using the litter box until 5 1/2 weeks old. They should start around then but should also continue nursing for a few more weeks. Do not intervene, they will wean when they are ready.
