What types of cats shed the least are are easy to take care of?

I would like to get a kitten for my GF for her b-day. She has been aa catowner in the past, but I know nothing of cats. Can you recommend a cat that does not shed much, is not too expensive to care for, and a typical breed that is playful?

well all cats are not easy to take care of, as you have to feed,groom,clean the litterbox, and love it. pretty much all cats shed but i dont know any breeds that dont shed much.

I once had a bobcat, which was raised from kittenhood. It turned out to be one of the best pets I’ve ever had. Will eat about anything and doesn’t shed alot.

Domestic short haired cats shed just as much as any other breed - you just don’t notice big clumps of fir because it’s shorter. The breeds that don’t shed are the hairless ones, and they aren’t very cuddly looking.
All animals cost some amount of money and time to be cared for properly.

I’m sure it isn’t too expensive to care for, but it is expensive to buy.
Devon Rex or Cornish Rex.. One of them is hairless, and the other has a lamb fur-like fur, that is short.

This may sound really weird, however you can look this up. Long haired cats shed less than short haired cats. We have proof from our own cats. I don’t know why this is but it’s true. Also buy your friend those sticky lint removers where you just peel the layers off when they get full, etc. Buy her a couple and give them to them when you give them the cat. They are a god send. We use those lint rollers on our furniture plus some of my cats like it instead of a brush. Hope this helps.

a devon rex, cornish rex, Sphynx, tonkinese, or siamese are probably the best choices for cats that don’t shed much. I can’t say much about the rexes but I have two tonkinese and I can tell you that they are wonderfully playful, love to get into mischief, and stay out of trouble by looking at you with those big wonderful eyes.

All cats are expensive to care for and no breeds are significantly more expensive. If you want a cat which sheds les than other breeds then you should get one of the rex breeds, such as the LaPerm, Devon Rex or Cornish Rex. They have curly coats so shed very little and these three are typically outgoing and playful characters. LaPerms especially are a healthy, hardy breed, and very affectionate and bonded to owners.
Please do make sure that your girlfriend does definitely want to take on the responsibility of pet ownership at the moment and is aware of your plans as surprise gifts of pets can backfire!

If I were you, I would get your girlfriend a Munckin. They make very good indoor cats and their meow is soft and not in an annoying tone. Any girl would love this cat because it is cute and very very loveable. These cats shed very rarely and don’t need to be combed often. If I was reciving a kitten, I personally would love to have a munckin. (dont name the cat when you get it, let her name it. she will enjoy it more.
You should also buy a book on taking care of cats for her. A cat is a present that ends up being more money than you bought it for so you should buy her a nice cat collar, some cat toys, and maybe even cute cat bowls or something. Just remember, say this to her when you give it to her “This kitten is like my love for you. I will keep growing and growing, and it will stay with you forever.” and if you dare, kiss her.
