My cat does that to i'm not sure why but when i don't feel like getting disturbed by her i will shut my door so i can get a good night sleep!i think they know your sound of your voice comes from your mouth and that is maybe why or they hear you breathing and just want to lay by your face~ these are just guesses that i suspect~

They like to sleep somewhere that's high off the ground, warm, and dry. Your face while you're lying on the bed is perfect.

cats in general adore warm places and surf ices . they love laying down or taking a (cat) nap where it is nice and warm so at night your face provides them with a warm place for them to snuggle. to them your face is like a soft quilt with your body temperature providing them with a very comfortable nights sleep and if you snore the noise is very tantalizing to them almost like sounds of nature,

hahaha... I don't know.
No offense, but that's funny that even your neighbor's cat does it to you.

My cats don't usually sleep ON my face.. they like to sleep on my pillow above my head, though.

Maybe you snore loudly and they're trying to quiet it or attack the noise or something.

I really would like to know the answer to this question.

They go where it warm, and they like you.
Put an 'outside cat heating pad' at the foot of your bed or on the floor.
That's where they'll end up.

Cats do not sleep on people's faces normally. That is an old wives tale. They don't suffocate babies either.

For pete sake's just close your door to the bedroom. Keep the cat out. Maybe your breath smells like mice!
